PARSE along with the ACLU of Pennsylvania and Planned Parenthood of PA hosted a lobby day to introduce two new bills that are a major step to improving sexuality education in Pennsylvania! The lobby day was held in Harrisburg on Tuesday, March 31, 2009.
Although the lobby day has passed, there is still work to be done to ensure these bills pass! The bills will be officially introduced the week of April 20th, leaving us plenty of time to work on getting more sponsors and support from the capitol. Legislators are totally available for in-district visits (generally on Thursdays or Fridays)! In-district visits are arguably even more influential than those made in Harrisburg. Legislators are not feeling so rushed and often more willing to listen. In-district visits are influential for a long time after the bills are introduced so if you aren’t free any time soon still try to meet with your Rep. whenever it would work for you.
If you attended the lobby day and felt inspired by your time in Harrisburg, consider making an in-district visit with your neighbors or colleagues.
